Christmas 2020
As we head into the last month of the year, we shift our focus to one of our favorite times of the year in Virginia Beach. While we are known for our miles of beaches and summer fun, Christmas time is a wonderful time to visit our coastal city. Filled with twinkling lights, great food, and cheerful music, there is no shortage of ways to get in the holiday spirit in Virginia Beach.
BayPort Credit Union Holiday Lights at the Beach
November 13 - January 3
Virginia Beach Boardwalk
This festive drive-through light show features a twinkling journey into nautical, holiday, and adventure lands – all along the beautiful Virginia Beach Boardwalk, from 8th Street to 22nd Street. Guests can tune their car radio in to hear holiday music synced with the light show, as they drive through festive fish, jumping dolphins, and frolicking porpoises, as well as Santa and his elves and much more. The Holiday Lights at the Beach is open nightly 5:30pm-10pm, Sunday through Thursday, and 5:30pm-11pm, Friday-Saturday.
New this year, guests will be required to purchase tickets in advance, online through Eventbrite. Upon entry, tickets will be scanned on mobile devices, to limit person-to-person contact. Tickets will go on sale Thursday, October 15 at 10:00 a.m.
The Holidays at Town Center
November 26 - December 31
Town Center
Beyond the beach, Town Center holiday spirit is on full display with lots of festivities. A Dancing Northern Lights Tree ‘dances’ nightly on the hour from 6:00-9:00 pm – with each weekend December tree performance receiving a Snow Globe Spectacular encore with dancing ballerinas, playful elves, marching toy soldiers and frosty royal musicians entertaining revelers from inside life-size snow globes. Not to be outdone, Santa’s Snow Globe offers kids the opportunity to share their wish lists in a COVID-safe environment in December via a touchless “Candy Cane Communication” network in the Gingerbread Chalet where they can see, talk, and take selfies with Santa from his snow globe. More Selfie Stations are available throughout Town Center including a new decorative ribbon display and holiday photo frame, Saint Nick’s sleigh, a Christmas Wish Bridge, Mistletoe Arch and a strollable, sparkling ornament, Coeur de Noël (Heart of Christmas), a 503-pound enchanting piece with more than 11,000 LED lights. Designed in France, there are only 12 such ornaments in the U.S. and 50 worldwide.
