VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (September 23, 2016) – That chill in the air can only mean one thing; fall has arrived in Virginia Beach. Our favorite season is here and we’re celebrating it with a list of events spanning the entire month of October! From fine deals on fine dining, to festivals galore and races for the cure, the month is sure to be filled fun vibes, good times and lots and lots of pumpkins.
FALLING INTO FLAVOR
Virginia Beach Restaurant Week (Oct. 3-9) returns just in time to get your fall fix of some the area’s best local eats. The week is a collection of our greatest culinary moments concentrated in just seven delicious days. Taste our tantalizing beach twist on everything from good ol’ southern cooking to Asian fusion. Take advantage of the exclusive menus and pricing at participating restaurants before your appetite bites back.
ON YOUR MARK!
Kicking off the month of October, Neptune’s 8K and 5K Run (Oct. 1) is getting the month off to a brisk start. Run, jog, walk, or skip your way down Atlantic Avenue to Rudee Inlet as spectators and family cheer you on the whole way. Afterwards, bask in your achievement in the 24th Street Park while enjoying plenty of food, drinks, fantastic views of the ocean, and even a door prize or two! There is plenty of fun to be had for racers and their guests, but pre-registration is required to participate. Spectators and viewing are free and welcome along the route.
Join us for the largest series of 5K runs and fitness walks in the world, at the 2016 Annual Komen Tidewater Race for the Cure (Oct. 15)! Taking place at the Resort Beach, the Susan G. Komen Race raises funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrates breast cancer survivorship and honors those who have lost their battle to the disease. Visitors participation helps provide significant funds and brings awareness to the community. Walk, run, volunteer or donate. Any support is welcomed and encouraged.
Run for your life! This Halloween (Oct. 29), the Anthem Wicked 10K will be spooking up the Resort Beach. It’s a fun, creative and festive event that races along the beautiful Virginia Beach oceanfront, featuring live Thriller dancers and other spooky surprises. Runners are encouraged to dress in wacky costumes and compete in a post-race costume contest for a chance to win great prizes. Do the monster mash to celebrate at the huge post-race party on the beach with plenty of live music, food and drinks.
GETTING CRAFTY
Mythical dragons, mermaids and pirates emerge from the sand for ten days at the International Sand Sculpting Championship, where sculptors from around the world come together to compete for the Neptune Championship – one of the most distinctive events of its kind in the world!
It’s a massive tent in the sand at the Resort Beach, hosting over 50 breweries boasting 80 craft beers! The Virginia Beach Craft Beer Festival kicks off the fall season (Oct. 22-23) with live music and sampling of some hoppin’ favorites. Learn all about the skill of the Masterbrewer, desired aroma, flavor qualities and just the right aging temperature. Purchase tickets in advance at the Visitor Information Center. Tickets will be $25 on the Saturday of the event and $20 Sunday. Upon entry, receive a commemorative glass!
FALL IS IN THE AIR
In Sandbridge Beach, it’s harvesting season. Come one, come all to celebrate fall at the Harvest Festival at Hunt Club (Oct. 1 – Oct. 30) and pet the friendliest farm animals, take a pony ride, tour the farm, scream from the top of the highest carnival ride and so much more.
