VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (September 25, 2015) – This fall, Virginia Beach is full of boo-tiful weather, terror-iffic views and “raising howl” events all month long! There are so many entertaining events happening in October – from a beer festival and harvest festival to international sand sculptors and races for a cure, the month will be filled with good times.

DESTINATION: FINISH LINE

Join us for the largest series of 5K runs and fitness walks in the world, at the 2015 Annual Komen Tidewater Race for the Cure (Oct. 10)! Taking place at the Resort Beach, the Susan G. Komen Race raises funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrates breast cancer survivorship and honors those who have lost their battle to the disease. Visitors participation helps provide significant funds and brings awareness to the community. Walk, run, volunteer or donate. Any support is welcomed and encouraged.

Run for your life! This Halloween (Oct. 31), the Anthem Wicked 10K will be spooking up the Resort Beach. It’s a fun, creative and festive event that races along the beautiful Virginia Beach oceanfront, featuring live Thriller dancers and other spooky surprises. Runners are encouraged to dress in wacky costumes and compete in a post-race costume contest for a chance to win great prizes. Do the monster mash to celebrate at the huge post-race party on the beach with plenty of live music, food and drinks.

CRAFTY BEACH DAYS

Mythical dragons, mermaids and pirates emerge from the sand for ten days at the International Sand Sculpting Championship (Sept. 25 – Oct. 4), where sculptors from around the world come together to compete for the Neptune Championship – one of the most distinctive events of its kind in the world!

It’s a massive tent in the sand at the Resort Beach, hosting over 50 breweries boasting 80 craft beers! The Virginia Beach Craft Beer Festival kicks off the fall season (Oct. 17-18) with live music and sampling of some hoppin’ favorites. Learn all about the skill of the Masterbrewer, desired aroma, flavor qualities and just the right aging temperature. Purchase tickets in advance at the Visitor Information Center. Tickets will be $25 on the Saturday of the event and $20 Sunday. Upon entry, receive a commemorative glass!

HAUNTINGLY FUN

In Sandbridge Beach, it’s harvesting season. Come one, come all to celebrate fall at the Harvest Festival at Hunt Club (Sept. 27 – Nov. 1) and pet the friendliest farm animals, take a pony ride, tour the farm, scream from the top of the highest carnival ride and so much more. Don’t forget to visit the massive pumpkin patch, ready to provide visitors with the perfect Pungo pumpkin.

FUN FALL HAPPENINGS

Explore Virginia Beach’s emerging ViBe Creative District during First Friday ViBe (Oct. 2), when local artisans and shops extend their hours to feature special events, music, food and other entertainment throughout the neighborhood’s galleries and stores, located just steps off the oceanfront boardwalk at the Resort Beach.

Drishti Fest, a community-driven yoga event, is taking place over four-days right on the beach (Oct. 8-11), where visitors will not only be enjoying yoga but also music, art, dancing, learning and transforming their bodies and spirits. After all, isn’t that what living the life is all about? Happiness and peacefulness guaranteed.

Celebrate 50 years of holiday shows with a thank you tribute to all of America’s Veterans at the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts. The USO Show Tribute (Oct. 20-23) features popular music from WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, while including music of the season with holiday songs that were performed in jungles, on battlefields and aboard aircraft carriers. Join this nostalgic, comical matinee for one unforgettable weekend. The show also includes The Victory Belles from the National WWII Museum in New Orleans, musical memories of the Andrews Sisters and many more.
