Nestled midway up the East Coast, Virginia Beach is well within a days drive of most American cities. So finding your way to our beautiful shores should be a breeze. Just look to the map for directions and you’ll be here in no time. And for those of you looking to take a more scenic route, be sure to check out the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.
All roads lead to Virginia Beach. When traveling from routes northwest of the Hampton Roads region, motorists are encouraged to use a faster, alternate route via I-664 Monitor Merrimac Memorial Bridge Tunnel (MMMBT), off of I-64 East, to make getting here a breeze. While the mileage to reach the beach could be greater, I-664 tends to be less congested and the time spent idling in traffic is statistically reduced. Simply take I-64 East, to I-664 (Exit # 264), to I-264 (Exit # 15 A), which will lead to the oceanfront. When leaving to return home, take I-264 West to I-664 North (Exit #299) to I-64 West (Exit #1 A).
When approaching from the west, other routes are Interstate 64, U.S. 460 or U.S. 58. From the north and south, convenient routes include Interstates 85 or 95, U.S. 17 and U.S. 13 (crossing the world-famous Chesapeake Bay-Bridge Tunnel, a 17-mile span connecting Virginia's Eastern Shore with Virginia Beach). These routes intersect with Interstate 64, which connects with the Virginia Beach-Norfolk Expressway, Interstate 264, and leads directly to the Virginia Beach oceanfront.
