Top Places for a Great Cup of Coffee in Virginia Beach

Courtney Spiess-Johnson

Discover the top coffee spots in Virginia Beach.

Whether you take yours steamed or over ice, sweetened or straight up, au lait or black, there’s just something about a great cup of coffee that brightens any day. For those who savor their cups of joe — perhaps paired with a fresh-baked pastry or hand pie — here are our favorite spots to enjoy coffee in Virginia Beach.

Perked Up! Café

Located on the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, Perked Up! Café is a locally owned coffee shop serving delicious coffee and fresh-baked treats. Try a classic cappuccino with a house-made coconut lime or blueberry lemon scone or an indulgent banana Nutella muffin.

Lynnhaven Coffee Company

Lynnhaven Coffee Company in the Chesapeake Bay brews small-batch roasted coffee in its own facility, nearby. They serve everything from drip coffee to espresso to something for every sweet tooth — and many of their syrups and sauces are locally sourced. Smoothies, flatbreads and sandwiches make it easy to linger a little longer.

Operation Brew Coffee & Bakery

This charming café on Oceana Boulevard in Chesapeake Bay pours premium coffees from around the world. The specialty drinks at Operation Brew Coffee & Bakery pack two shots of espresso and come in a range of flavors — and the chef’s favorite breakfast, cheese pancakes served with salted caramel mousse, sour cream or Greek yogurt, and berries, adds a sweet finish.

Three Ships Coffee

Three Ships Coffee offers early-morning pick-me-ups and mid-day coffee and dessert at two locations: in the eclectic ViBe Creative District and Hilltop. House-roasted coffee creations include a Pungo Latte, a classic latte made with Three Ships’ rich coffee and lightly sweetened with seasonal berries from the Pungo agricultural district. Pair your cup of joe with a world-famous Becky biscuit.

Bad Ass Coffee Company

Coffee lovers who can’t get enough of Hawaii’s famous Kona coffee can enjoy a cup amid the tropical vibes of Bad Ass Coffee in the ViBe Creative District. Its menu includes Hot and Iced Classics, Bad Ass Lattes, Cold Brews, and frozen Koffee Koolers. For a tasty pairing with your brew, try a donut, muffin or scone.

VLOVE Coffee House

Watch the sunrise to start your day, then stroll over to VLOVE Coffee House in the ViBe Creative District for fresh coffee and lattes in fun flavors like vanilla, tiramisu and mocha. Pair your drink with a bacon avocado sandwich for the ultimate flavor combo.

Fathom Coffee

Fathom Coffee, located in the ViBe Creative District, takes sustainability seriously, from reusable glass jars and recyclable packaging to solar-roasted coffee. Choose from shaken espressos and macchiatos to specialty lattes — all while supporting an eco-friendly café.

Pinup Coffee Co

Pinup Coffee Co calls Back Bay Brew House Farmhouse on Kempsville Road home, adding its iconic coffee experience to a space built around community. A veteran- and woman-owned business founded in 2021, Pinup began as a specialty coffee roaster in Virginia Beach and has since opened its first walk-in coffee shop. Stop by and try one of their specialty drinks — we’re partial to the vanilla lavender latte, made with their signature espresso — or get a tasty treat while enjoying the amazing atmosphere at the Farmhouse.
