Biking in Virginia Beach

Bikes and beach towns go together like chips and salsa. In addition to balmy ocean breezes and moderate temperatures year-round, Virginia Beach boasts more than 200 miles of municipal bikeways and trails — and that’s not even counting the abundant nature trails meandering through our local, state and federal parks and refuges, many of which welcome cyclists. There are biking trails to suit every skill level, and cycling tours to pique a variety of interests. Read on to cruise through our coastal culture on two wheels.

You can find scenic routes along the Oceanfront’s Boardwalk, more intense trails for adventure seekers and even specialty bike trails dedicated to those who want to combine a bike ride with an interest in art, beer, history or family fun.

Check out the self-guided bike tours’ maps below and for more information, download the guides: the Bike, Brew, and Arts Trail; a Bike, Brew, and History Trail; and a Family Fun Trail.
