Stretching from 2nd to 40th Streets along our world-famous Oceanfront, the Virginia Beach Boardwalk may just be the quintessential Virginia Beach experience. As you stroll its three bustling, colorful miles, you’ll see soaring beachfront hotels, splurge-worthy shops and enticing restaurants on one side — and our world-famous Oceanfront Beach on the other.
Start your day with an unforgettable sunrise while enjoying a morning stroll, jog or bike ride — you’re likely to have the beach and Boardwalk mostly to yourself while dawn patrol surfers bob in the lineup and anglers reel in the day’s catch. Later, let the kiddos burn off some energy at Grommet Island Park, an accessible (and adorable) seaside playground, then meet some of the friendly locals — including the iconic King Neptune statue that presides over all.
After working up an appetite on the beach, head to one of our oceanfront restaurants — many offering outdoor seating, and serving up the freshest, most flavorful seafood in the country.
During the summer months, “Live! On Atlantic” brings music and other entertainment to four beachfront stages, with most events free of charge.
During the winter, you can even get a wonderful new perspective on our golden shores from the back of a horse.
