Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center

Winner of a Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Award, the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center is a must-see attraction for families and nature lovers alike. It’s home to more than a dozen species of sharks, rays, eels and reptiles — plus North American river otters and harbor seals. You can even see a few tomistomas (a freshwater crocodile) and Komodo dragons. This is a place where you’ll find plenty of learning opportunities, not to mention oohs and ahhs, around every bend.

Explore a variety of immersive experiences, including interactive exhibits, kids’ play areas, touch pools, an interactive water quality lab, outdoor play areas and much more. There’s also a veterinary care center you can observe.

If you’re looking for a full-day outing, pair your aquarium exploration with a visit to the adjacent Adventure Park at Virginia Beach, which delivers a unforgettable outdoor experience for thrill seekers of all ages. Within the borders of its five forested acres, you’ll find a series of elevated woodland trails peppered with 170 treetop platforms — all connected by bridges, rope courses and zip lines.
