Things to Do for Mother’s Day in Virginia Beach

Stroll Along the Virginia Beach Boardwalk
The Virginia Beach Boardwalk is the heart of the Oceanfront. Along this three-mile promenade, one side is lined with hotels, restaurants, shops and sculptures, while the golden sands of Virginia Beach and the bright blue of the Atlantic frame the other. Head out early for a peaceful stroll, or wait until later in the day for the lively, contagious atmosphere.
Take a Dolphin Watching Tour
Want to do more than just take in the ocean views? Head out on the water with a Virginia Beach dolphin watching cruise. Atlantic bottlenose dolphins should be back in town, playing just beneath the waves. Rudee Tours and Virginia Aquarium Boat Tours are both great dolphin tour outfitters.

Go Strawberry Picking in Pungo
Strawberry picking in Pungo may be the most picture-perfect Mother’s Day plan in Virginia Beach. There are several u-pick farms in this agricultural region, including Flanagan Farms, Henley Farms and Cullipher Farm. Even better, May is peak season for strawberries in Virginia Beach, so you’ll likely go home with a basket of the juiciest, rosiest berries around.

Take on a ViBe District Mural Tour
Got an artsy mom? You can’t go wrong with a visit to the ViBe Creative District. There are free guided tours once per month, or you can wander the area on your own, walking the roughly 1.5-mile route and seeing several stunning murals along the way. And while the murals are often the main highlight, keep your eyes peeled for other types of public art too, including sculptures, creative crosswalks and even painted utility boxes.
Catch a Show
Virginia Beach has several notable event venues, each showcasing a distinct set of performers. Want to listen to a symphony performance? Classical violinist Grace Park is joining the Virginia Beach Orchestra (May 10) at the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts. Prefer side-stitch-inducing comedy? Funny Bone Comedy Club welcomes the popular comedian Godfrey this Mother’s Day weekend.
