  • Homegrown in Virginia Beach

Sure, Virginia Beach is known for its three unique beach experiences, but don’t let our namesake fool you – to locals and repeat visitors, living the beach life goes well beyond the sand. Just a few minutes outside of the island-like atmosphere of Sandbridge Beach, lives 8,000 acres of farmland known to Virginia Beach experts as Pungo. Our Pungo community is a dynamic part of our beach culture. A drive through Pungo means rural serenity and countryside adventure. Stop along your journey at any one of the area’s roadside stands or for a truly Pungo experience, pick your own bushel of fresh berries, produce, or even a bouquet of wildflowers. If that’s not enough to celebrate, join the locals for the annual Pungo Strawberry Festival – a two-day strawberry-centric event with over 50 strawberry delicacies, family activities, live entertainment, a parade, carnival, and much more. Just when you thought you’ve seen all of the Virginia Beach wonders, head countryside to live the Pungo life.
