We are the official destination marketing organization for Virginia Beach.

The Virginia Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is responsible for promoting year-round leisure, business, meetings and conventions, international and sports travel to Virginia’s most populous city. Virginia Beach also is the number one vacation destination in Virginia. As the official destination marketing organization for the coastal city, the Virginia Beach CVB is responsible for ongoing advocacy for the tourism and hospitality industry — which is one of Virginia Beach’s largest industries. To drive tourism revenue that powers our local economy, the Virginia Beach CVB also focuses on attracting tourism product development to ensure our destination stays competitive.

Nancy Helman

Director

Under Virginia Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Nancy Helman’s leadership, the city has welcomed 13 million visitors each year with a total economic impact of $3.7B. Nancy also plays an integral role in the city’s Economic Vitality Portfolio. Prior to her role as Director, Nancy was the Director of the CVB’s Sports Marketing Program, where she implemented a program that put Virginia Beach on the map as one of the best-managed destinations for sports clients and participants. A sports tourism veteran with over 30 years of experience, Nancy was responsible for the planning and development of the Virginia Beach Sports Center.

Deputy Director

A strategic leader with advanced degrees in business and technology, Michelle oversees financial and resource planning with a focus on innovation and long-term sustainability. Her career includes roles such as Vice President of Business, Convention Center AGM, and leadership in technology. Drawing on comprehensive intelligence, she informs key decisions that shape the organization’s direction across hospitality and tourism. She applies sound judgment and clear focus to advance the CVB’s mission.

Samantha Cortez is a dedicated and motivated Executive Assistant with a passion for Virginia Beach.  With years of experience in the Tourism industry, she’s ready to help connect you to the right people. 

Erin Goldmeier

Director of Media Relations – Economic Vitality Portfolio

A strategic communicator with more than 20 years of experience in tourism, government, and economic development, Erin oversees the Media Relations Program at the Virginia Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau, managing local, regional, national, and international media initiatives. She also supports the City of Virginia Beach Department of Economic Development with its media relations strategy and execution. Erin holds a degree in Public Relations and is a certified Public Information Officer. Additionally, she has earned multiple professional certifications through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Virginia Department of Emergency Management, and the Public Relations Society of America.

Resort Administrator

As Resort Administrator for the Virginia Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau, Bill is responsible for personnel, financial resources, physical assets and a wide variety of contractual services that create, enhance and maintain a resident, visitor and business-friendly environment in the Resort area as well City-wide. Bill is responsible for the operation of Resort Programs and Initiatives, Citywide festivals, events and filming opportunities, and City’s entertainment services contract.

With over three decades of experience in hospitality management and sales, Anissa serves as Vice President of Sales and Services. Anissa is a data-driven leader who is passionate about tourism’s role in driving economic growth and enriching communities.

Convention Center General Manager

Michael A. Meyers, CVE, General Manager of the Virginia Beach Convention Center for the City of Virginia Beach, is a recognized and respected name in the field of venue and event management. He has spent the last 43 years working in arenas, convention centers and stadiums in first, second and third-tier markets within a variety of management structures including city government, an independent authority, a non-profit corporation and private management.

Brande Rumpf

Director of Partnerships 

Brande brings more than two decades of tourism experience to the Virginia Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau and has served in a myriad of roles within the bureau, each with increased visibility. She currently leads the Partnership division, which focuses on strategic partnerships, governmental affairs, creating partner activations, overseeing partner engagement and coordinating CVB City Council communications. She also leads the administration of council-appointed committees, current and future, which include the Resort Advisory Commission, the Advertising Advisory Commission and related task forces.

Anna Stone

Vice President of Marketing and Brand Strategy

A dynamic and forward‑thinking marketing leader with two decades of experience in marketing, public relations, and sales across the hospitality and tourism industry Anna leads the Marketing team at Virginia Beach. She holds a master’s degree in hospitality management from Florida International University. With a passion for data‑driven insights, Anna specializes in shaping smart, measurable marketing strategies that elevate audience engagement, strengthen brand presence, and drive visitation growth into the destination. Her career spans progressive leadership roles including National Manager, Director, and Regional Director, culminating in her current role as Vice President of Marketing and Brand Strategy.

Dani Timm

Director of Sports Marketing

Born and raised in Wyoming, Dani Timm graduated from the University of Iowa and is the current Director of Virginia Beach Sports Tourism. Dani has worked in the industry for over a decade and during her tenure with Virginia Beach has, with her team, booked over 1000 events. She earned her Sports Tourism Specialist (STS) designation through Sports ETA, an organization she’s been a part of for more than 10 years. She was instrumental in helping build and sell the Virginia Beach Sports Center which, as of 2023, has hosted 187 events, showcasing over 500,000 athletes and 600,000 spectators. Additionally, Dani succeeded in the recruitment of NCAA Indoor Track and Field (four years); the Montreal-based action sports festival, Jackalope; and many more. “Being a part of the team that researched, planned and developed the Virginia Beach Sports Center has been a major career achievement for me,” said Dani. The state-of-the-art sports tournament venue has been an overarching success for Virginia Beach. Dani is the team jokester who is always plotting a good prank. In her free time, she enjoys watching college football, going to breweries and beach time with friends. A coworker of Dani’s says she is, “experienced, energetic, and always 100% transparent with clients. She never promises what she can’t deliver!”
