Virginia Beach Student Group Services
Throughout the year, thousands of students visit Virginia Beach for education, enrichment and excitement. Our vibrant, historic city offers a variety of educational experiences, performance opportunities, ways to give back and a satisfying balance of energetic activity that are ideal for lifelong learners. Virginia Beach also offers a wide range of accommodations suited to student groups — including hotels with inside corridors, indoor pools, onsite restaurants, and security. Virginia Beach Student Group Safety Guidelines
To ensure students’ safety and the safety of others, Virginia Beach provides a summary of activities that have restrictions. For more detailed information about these requirements and their enforcement, contact the City Attorney’s Office at (757) 427-4531.
Alcohol: You must be at least 21 years of age to consume, possess or buy beer, wine, and liquor. You may not carry open or unsealed alcohol in public places or in vehicles.
Bicycles: Cyclists must follow the same rules of the road as automobile drivers, keeping to the right and obeying all traffic laws. Bicycles are allowed on all sidewalks except in the resort area and in Town Center. Bicycles are not allowed on the Virginia Beach Boardwalk but are encouraged to use the bike path right next to it.
Curfew: Juveniles 18 years and under are prohibited from public places between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. Exceptions are made for emergencies, and juveniles are allowed to drive to and from work with written permission from a parent/guardian.
Music: Portable stereos must be kept at a reasonable volume to avoid disturbing others.
Balls and Frisbees, Etc.: Balls and frisbees are prohibited on beaches, the Virginia Beach Boardwalk and from grassy area west of the Boardwalk to the property lines from Camp Pendleton on the south to 42nd Street on the north during the following hours and days: 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. weekdays and 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. on weekends and holidays, from 6:00 p.m. on the Friday before Memorial Day through 6:00 p.m. on Labor Day. Courtesy volleyball nets are available on a first-come, first-served basis at 25th, 30th and 40th streets.
Roller Skates, Rollerblades and Skateboards: These cannot be used on the grassy area next to the public Boardwalk or on bicycle paths, oceanfront parks and plazas, public restrooms and sidewalks, along and east of Pacific Avenue from Rudee Inlet to 42nd Street from 6pm on the Friday before Memorial Day through 6pm on Labor Day. Skates and rollerblades can be used on the Boardwalk as long as one doesn’t interfere with or endanger pedestrians.
