Celebrate the arrival of spring in Virginia Beach with a full slate of activities and events. From live concerts and comedy acts to St. Patrick’s Day pub crawls and outdoor festivals, there’s something for everyone this month. Here’s what’s happening in Virginia Beach.

50th Annual VBVRS Oyster Fest

March 1

Get ready for a shell of a good time at the 50th Annual VBVRS Oyster Fest at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. Feast on all-you-can-eat raw and fried oysters, clam chowder, pork barbecue and more, all while supporting the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad. You’ll also get to enjoy live music from Vinyl Headlights, a silent auction, and raffles on this oyster-filled day.

Yuengling Shamrock Marathon Weekend

March 21–22

Got the luck of the Irish? The Yuengling Shamrock Marathon Weekend kicks off with the TowneBank Shamrock 8K, a scenic race that ends near the iconic King Neptune statue on the Virginia Beach Boardwalk. The weekend includes the Leprechaun Dash for runners-in-training up to age five and the Final Mile for elementary school students. On March 22, the full and half marathons offer the ultimate test of endurance, along with plenty of Irish cheer. 

Virginia Beach St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawls

March 14 and 17

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with two festive pub crawls across the best bars in Virginia Beach. Choose from the Lucky’s St. Patrick’s Day Bar Crawl (March 15) and the Virginia Beach Official St. Patrick’s Day Bar Crawl (March 14 & March 17) both featuring local favorites, beach bars and brewpubs. Wear your green, enjoy the ocean views and soak up the Irish cheer. Sláinte!

Virginia Beach Dart Classic

March 26–29

Put your dart skills to the test at the Virginia Beach Dart Classic, hosted at the Wyndham Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Whether you’re an amateur or a professional, this tournament is your chance to shine. There are dart-throwing events for men, women, singles, doubles, mixed doubles and youth players. Join in and see if you can take home the win.

Cherry Blossom Festival

March 27–April 3

Welcome the arrival of spring at the Cherry Blossom Festival at Red Wing Park, where vibrant Japanese culture and beautiful pink blossoms take center stage. Enjoy martial arts demonstrations, cultural performances, children’s activities and Japanese garden tours. Don’t miss the vendor market filled with cherry blossom-inspired arts and crafts, all celebrating the beauty of the season.

Throughout March

The Sandler Center for the Performing Arts has quite the range of events this March. Catch the Virginia Beach Musical Theater’s last show of 1776 (February 27–March 1), as inspired by the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Listen to musical prodigies, like Joshua Bell on the violin (March 8) and Joe Bonamassa on the guitar (March 11). Or pop in for Ballet Virginia’s take on “Alice in Wonderland” (March 14). Throughout March

There are a few shows taking place at The Dome this month. Listen to rock hits with Rainbow Kitten Surprise (March 15), be amazed by dazzling live dance performances with Dancing with the Stars: Live! Funny Bone Comedy Club

Throughout March

March in Virginia Beach is filled with laughs, thanks to Funny Bone Comedy Club’s incredible line-up. With names like Jeff Arcuri (March 5–March 7), Desi Banks (March 20–March 22) and Tommy Davidson (March 27–March 28) taking to the stage, you’ll definitely be crying tears of laughter before the end of the night. Little Theatre of Virginia Beach

March 13–April 15

Enter the rigid world of a 1964 Bronx Catholic school in the Little Theatre of Virginia Beach’s take on the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, “Doubt: A Parable.” When the strict Sister Aloysius suspects the progressive Father Flynn of misconduct, tensions rise, bringing issues of religion and morality to the surface. Tickets start at $25.

Zeiders American Dream Theater

Throughout March

While there are a few performances happening at Zeiders American Dream Theater this March, UPAC’s production of Black Girl Magic (March 12–March 15) is the highlight. Follow the story of Sister, a young Black woman, searching for her place in the world as she’s guided by the spirits of her African ancestors.
