The Bunny Hutch and CLIMATES-Rescue is an exotic animal rescue, animal artwork boutique, and educational facility located in Virginia Beach.
Our local city-funded shelters are equipped to rescue dogs and cats, but are over-burdened by everything else. Our goal is to alleviate this pressure as much as possible by rescuing not only bunnies, but also ferrets, rats, snakes, chinchillas, lizards, tarantulas, turtles, birds, guinea pigs, hedgehogs, and just about any other abandoned companion animal that hops, slithers, walks, flies, or crawls through our doors.
We operate like a zoo, according to AZA guidelines, and your family can stop by for a facility tour, which is similar to a “backstage pass” tour given at zoos and aquariums, where you get to see keepers working to care for our animals. The only difference is that every animal in our facility is adoptable!
Here’s our history…
The Bunny Hutch Boutique was originally founded by six zookeepers as a way to raise money for other rescues in Hampton Roads and the surrounding areas by offering unique animal-made, sustainable swag in exchange for donations.
Then, one day, some dropped off a few snakes who needed new homes… and so it began.
Open Every Day 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM*
*Last tour starts an hour before close, at 5:00 PM. No appointment necessary for a tour with 5 people or less during our open hours! However, please check the event list on our homepage. Our facility is closed when we are at special events, as listed above. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for an adoption appointment to meet a specific animal or to make an appointment outside of our normal hours.
