With the changing of the season, there a few things we anticipate with much excitement: the leaves changing colors, a slight chill in the air, getting the fireplace going, and last but certainly not least, our local seasonal craft beer on draught! That’s right – bust out the pumpkin beer, please!  We can’t think of a better way to celebrate the fall season than heading to each and every one of our local breweries to sample their fall creations.

  • Back Bay Brewery has brought back its Witch of Pungo Pumpkin Ale due to popular demand…or maybe by Grace’s demand? Enjoying this pint while discussing the folklore of the hauntingly beautiful witch of Pungo (Grace) is a perfect pastime for the wicked. The brewery’s next seasonal release, happening in November, is cleverly called the “Nut Quacker” and will be brewed with fresh pecans. Need we say more?
  • Pleasure House Brewing is constantly changing up its selection, and it’s rare that they repeat a recipe. They have crafted and brewed three seasonal beers this year, starting off with a Pumpkin Spice Saison (yes, we said saison!). They also mix it up with a Maple Spice Porter, made with the real-deal New Hampshire maple syrup. Lastly, they have a Bourbon Barrel Stout that just screams to be enjoyed by a crackling fire.
  • Young Veterans Brewery has a special release this season, the Goat Locker Breakfast Stout, which has traces of oatmeal, coffee and chocolate – pretty much the breakfast of champions!
  • Commonwealth Brewing Company, housed within a historic fire station, just opened this September with its first release of a fall brew. Marvolo is a full and creamy-bodied stout that will excite your palate with hints of cold-brewed coffee, toasted coconut and Dutch cocoa.  Yum!

So, what are you waiting for? Get out there and start sampling. Cheers!
