The Harvest Moon has made its appearance, which means it is time to put on a warm jacket and get outside to enjoy the change of seasons.
- Calling all Leaf Peepers! First Landing State Park is an ideal location for watching the foliage change! Our favorite leaf-peeping adventure is spent hiking along the bay and through all eight of the park’s distinct ecosystems.
- Celebrate the season by stopping by a You-Pick farm in Pungo for some local, seasonal produce with which to create the perfect fall meal – don’t forget to grab a farm-made pumpkin pie! And if you’re up for the challenge, find your way through a corn maze shaped like a staple fighter jet from the Naval Air Station Oceana at Cullipher Farms.
- The cooler weather also makes for ideal conditions for testing your limits at the Adventure Park at the Virginia Aquarium. How’s that for being eye-to-eye with the fall foliage while you’re hanging out up in the trees?!
- Oysters are now in season, and there couldn’t be a more perfect time to get your waders on and pluck some legendary Lynnhaven oysters right out of the Lynnhaven River during an oyster-farm boat tour that will leave you hungry for more!
There is much to do in our area during the fall season, so we encourage you to create your bucket list and set forth with Godspeed for a fantastic fall ahead!
