With all of our waterways, miles of beaches, farmland, extensive parks and distinct wildlife, you’ll have no problem building an adventure to suit your likes. Whether you take to the water, land or sky, you’ll find all the components you need to build your very own Virginia Beach adventure.
Rent a kayak to paddle alongside dolphins on the Chesapeake Bay. Be sure to have your binoculars ready for spotting eagles and ospreys as you paddle board through the marshes of the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. In the winter months, set sail on a whale-watching tour on the Atlantic Ocean. Sign up for surfing lessons or give SUPsquatching a try for the very first time (we’re the only place on the East Coast where you can do so!). Even your taste buds can join on the water-based adventure when you embark on an Oyster Farm Boat Tour with Pleasure House oysters and get waders-deep in the Lynnhaven River, as you discover the legend behind these bivalves and even sample a few from the water beneath you.
Landlubbers can hike in the footsteps of history through First Landing State Park’s seven ecosystems or take in unspoiled wilderness of False Cape State Park. Head to Pungo to explore working farms, pick your own produce (or flowers), learn from area farmers or prepare your fresh own meal, under the guidance of a top local chef at New Earth Farm.
Those adventure-seekers looking for adrenaline high up in the sky can soar in a WWII Biplane, available for excursions through the Military Aviation Museum. Not quite ready for a plane ride? Feel the thrill of skydiving – indoors – at iFLY Virginia Beach and practice aerial tricks at 180 mph. Take those tricks to the next level by swinging and zipping through the trees at the Adventure Park at the Virginia Aquarium, or keep your head in the clouds by climbing to the top of Cape Henry Lighthouse.
Before visiting Cape Henry Lighthouse, be sure to read additional information on location, arrival, and rules and regulations.
