CVB's Vice President of Tourism Marketing and Sales
As Vice President of Tourism Marketing & Sales for the Virginia Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau, Ron Kuhlman heads up all initiatives under the Leisure, Group Tour and International umbrellas. He began work in the travel and tourism industry with US Airways in the New Orleans area, which led to his next position as the Director of Tourism for the Greater New Orleans Convention & Visitors Bureau. He then took on the role of Executive Vice President of Marketing for Discover the World Marketing, where he was responsible for opening and managing offices in Canada and Honolulu. Nearly 20 years ago, Ron and his wife moved to Virginia Beach from Scottsdale, AZ and never looked back. Even though they both love the sand and the ocean, it was Virginia Beach’s other outdoor activities that sealed the deal on their move from the southwest. Ron and his wife truly “live the beach life” -- they especially love biking and hiking trails throughout Virginia Beach’s state parks and wildlife refuge, as well as canoeing and kayaking along the city’s many waterways. Ron also enjoys the winter months when striped bass are plentiful and in season – “rockfish” is a common meal choice for him when selecting where to dine at one of Virginia Beach’s many delectable restaurants.

Ron Kuhlman, Vice President of Tourism Marketing & Sales

Hello, and welcome to ShoreLines.  I’m Ron Kuhlman, the Vice President of Tourism Marketing and Sales for the Virginia Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau, and I get to “Live the Life” every day.

I am one lucky guy!  I live, work and play in one of the greatest resort cities in the world. I could easily go on and on about what an awesome place Virginia Beach is…I could rave about our miles of clean beaches, fun attractions and great restaurants. Or share tips about the best fishing areas and which parks have camping and hiking. Sure, I could give advice on which golf courses to play or talk a mean streak about our area’s great history. OK, I can’t resist this one: did you know Capt. John Smith came ashore in Virginia Beach in 1607 before moving on to settle in Jamestown?  It’s true and it’s a fascinating story…see what I mean? I just can’t stop myself!  That’s why we’ve created a blog; there’s a lot about Virginia Beach to share and our new ShoreLines blog is the perfect forum.
