This African-American church was established in 1860 by several enslaved people who worshipped with their white owners at the Ebenezer Methodist Church which was then located in what is now the Haygood section of Virginia Beach. It is the oldest African-American church still standing in Virginia Beach, or what was once known as Princess Anne County. Church members are currently in the process of collecting memorabilia and artifacts that depict the lives of African-Americans in Princess Anne County from 1860s to the late 1940s.
