Virginia Beach: A Hub for Fly Fishing

Virginia Beach is a true fly fishing hot spot. Its location at the intersection of the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean, proximity to the Gulf Stream and Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, one of the world’s largest man-made reefs, make it an ideal habitat for all types of fish species and excitable fly fisherman.

There’s nothing quite like the rush of hooking up with a leaping Billfish on an offshore charter trip, site casting to a lunker Red Fish in the flats, or having a Cobia gobble your topwater offering away from a CBBT piling. You can hook up with them all, right here, in Virginia Beach.

Legends of the Fly Event

Legends of the Fly 2016 is a day long, immersive experience filled with fly fishing, fun and film. Come meet the founding ladies of Able Women, learn to cast a fly rod and tie a fly from some of the region’s best, and enjoy an evening brimming with beer, BBQ and the winning entries from the Fly Fishing Film Tour! This year’s legends are members of the Able Women team. Able Women is a public outreach initiative designed to spread the word about fly fishing and the many emotional, physical and spiritual benefits it brings to women. The founders of Able Women are the embodiment of confidence, strength and grace.
