The Cape Henry Lighthouse was built in 1792, and is currently owned and operated by a nonprofit historical society known as Preservation Virginia. Entrants can climb into the lighthouse lantern room. We also offer a walking tour on seasonal days, call ahead tour availability. Hours of operation: March 15th- October 31st: 10 AM-5 PMNovember 1st- March 16th: 10 AM - 4 PMNote to Our Visitors: The Cape Henry Lighthouse is located within Fort Story military base. To visit the lighthouse, you must pass through the security gates of Fort Story. Vehicle search is required as well as a government issued form of identification for all persons over the age of 16. Weapons of any kind are prohibited. State concealed weapons permits are not valid. Must be 42" tall to climb.
